Virginia Galactic To Shift Resources, Personnel To Spacesport America

Virgin Galactic is planning this summer to shift its personnel of carrier aircraft, spaceship and flight operations from California to Spaceport America of New Mexico, announced the executives of company on May 10 during a press conference.

The move would happen after The Spaceship Company which is a firm that Virgin Galactic owns completes the interior of the cabin for the VSS Unity of the spaceship two vehicles, said the chief executive of the company George Whitesides on May 10 during a press conference. He added that the test has provided us the confidence that it is the correct time for moving the spaceship. The company is in the process of completing the work on the Spaceport America’s interiors. He said that they are in the final stages of the staff zones building’s work and are into the areas of the customer astronaut training.  The company is also renovating hanger for operations support and vehicle. Virgin Galactic has finished constructing oxidizer vessel for the site and it is almost close to completing a gas farm and the antenna station, he added.

The 70,000 sq.km launch complex of Spaceport America is almost 72 km from Las Cruces town which is located in New Mexico. Virgin Galactic is planning to expand its presence in the building of the Las Cruces office and is shifting into a warehouse in the Las Cruces town, said Whitesides.

Richard Branson, the founder of Virgin Galactic said that their adventure that has intertwined with Spaceport America and New Mexico right from beginning and their stories have stretched out at the same  time.  He added that New Mexico has delivered its promise of building the first world-class spaceport. He added that today he couldn’t be any more excited for announcing that they are ready to get a first world-class spaceline – New Mexico.
